My first time to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving arrived this year on October 13, but I wasn't sure what to do about missing "American" Thanksgiving as it now has to be called. The 4th Thursday of November had always been the time to stop and thank God for His blessings while joining my family in Minnesota...but not to be these year.
David's mom was wonderfully thoughtful and decided to make "American Thanksgiving" for us - a first for these Canadians. It was a fantastic time together, tasting very close to home for me, even doing my family's tradition of the "5 Thankful Corn" kernels (where you say something you're thankful for, for each! U.S.A. flag napkins were even pulled out to make sure it was known that it was "AMERICAN THANKSGIVING"! I am so blessed!
